East Kalimantan is potential enough with tourism, so, although it is still young, becomes the 15th Tourism Destination Location in Indonesia.

The Province of East Kalimantan has 2 municipalities, 4 regencies, and 2 administrative cities:

1). samarinda Municipality, with Samarinda City as the capital of East Kalimantan.

2). balikpapan Municipality, with Balikpapan City as the gate from the Southern area.

3). kutai Regency, with Tenggarong City as the gate from the remote area.

4). pasir Regency, with Tanah Grogot City for the development of Argo Tourism Package and History.

5). berau Regency, with Tanjung Redep City as the development of maritime Tourism and History.

Rate always change, depended economics of state.

For public transportation, rate arranging by government, and for chartering transportation, rate depends on the destination. But rate in east borneo still cheap relative.

East Kalimantan has specific histories, not like the other provinces in Indonesia, One of them is the existence of the oldest Kingdom in Indonesia, Mulawarman Kingdom, located around Muara Kaman Subdistrict, with the popular King Mulawarman Nala Dewa.

The descendant of King Mulawarman prolonged until the 25 th king whose name was Maharja Derma Setia (13th century) with kutai Ing Martapura Kingdom.

Come close to its fading away, there had existed some kingdom in East Kalimantan, beginning with Kutai Kertanegara Kingdom (At Jaitan Layar), berau bulungan Kingdom and pasir Kingdom.

All of the kingdoms prolonged and governed their own districts without was between them, until the Dutch came and colonized East Kalimantan in 1844. This also happened when Japanese colonized this region (1941-1945).

The inheritance of Bulungan Kingdom and Old Mosque | Print |

Located along Kayan River at Tanjung Village, Tanjung Palas subdistrict. This bulungan Kingdom Palace was dig up since 1965 during PKI (Indonesian Communist Party), so the history outhentication is the old Masque, the funeral of Datuk Djalaludin and this family, this place can be reached by aero plane (samarinda-Tanjung Selor), the continues the trip by river boat to Tanjung Palas about 5 minute. Tanjung Palas is across Tanjung Selor.
